My new book, XVIII Airborne Corps In Desert Storm – From Planning To Victory is about the Army’s premier contingency force in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After the Gulf War was over in 1991, most written accounts of the U.S. Army’s role in the conflict covered only the ground battle of Desert Storm, and especially the VII Corps’ armored attack.

But Desert Storm could not have occurred without XVIII Airborne Corps deploying first – with the 82nd Airborne Division, 24th Infantry Division, 101st Airborne Division, 1st Cavalry Division, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and all the Corps’ supporting brigades. Included is the story of the French 6th Light Armored Division, which joined the Corps for Desert Storm and fought alongside.

This book is a must-read for military professionals and historians. Never before have the facts of the Gulf War been presented in such detail, from deployment and logistics of Desert Shield to the planning and execution of Desert Storm. The appendices alone, which cover the Corps’ organization to lists of commanders and staff, are sure to become valuable research tools in the future.

I’ll be on the road to talk about my book. Click here to see when I’ll be in your area.
